Couponing 101

teacher

In the process of helping someone learn how to coupon, I wrote the following list. I thought it might help some of you! Here it is, in slightly modified form:

1. Buy multiple Sunday papers when there are good coupons (like today, four inserts!). You can get them at the Dollar Tree starting Saturday morning.

2. Don't cut the coupons. Write the date on the top of each one with a sharpie and file them away.

3. Check your favorite blogs for the stores you shop at for the current sales and coupon match-ups. Try to check when the sales change over, or more often if you like!

4. Shop drugstores for groceries, too. Sometimes Walgreens and CVS have better prices than the grocery stores!

5. Learn about the cash-back programs at the stores. Wags, CVS, and grocery stores all have their own programs. Enroll in all of them.

6. Target, Wags, and CVS have printable store coupons you can stack with mfg coupons for greater savings. Use them whenever possible.

7. Never leave for the store without a list of what's on sale and a stack of coupons that match those sales. When there's a great price on something your family uses, buy as many as your family will use before the expiration date with the coupon match-ups. Store these in your basement (or other safe location) and pull as needed (we call it our store, and it's saved us numerous trips to the store for things we used to run out of!).

Any questions? Please ask! I know you're out there reading but the comments are few and far between
