I wasn't sure I should post this shopping trip, since I shopped the way I used to shop. Buying just what I wanted (for our Thanksgiving Dinner) and a few extras. But I did get a great deal on (yet another) turkey at Meijer, and I wanted to share that with you.
First I have to tell you that most of our family has been up 1/2 the night with our sick 11 yo, who has a stomach bug (and an ear infection). She's keeping down fluids now so she's on the mend, but it was a rough 12 hours! My brain is a little foggy from lack of sleep....but here's what I bought. Recipes to follow.
Chewy Spreez, .74. Because that's all our girl asked for.
White Bread, .78.
10 lbs potatoes, $2.77.
3 lb. Onions, $2.97 (really?) But I need 'em for the soup.
Head lettuce, 1.29 (I swear the sign said .99, but like I said I'm foggy)
Marischino Cherries, $2.29. For our Lime-Nut Mold.
3-lb Carrots, $2.49.
12-lb Butterball Turkey, $20.48 - $9 instant savings and used $4/1 Butterball and four Crescents from the 11/7 SS.
Four Crescent Rolls, $5. Used two .40/2 from the 11/21 SS.
Tall can pineapple, .99. for our Lime-Nut Mold.
Hamburger Buns, $1.11. Turkey burgers for dinner tonight.
4 lbs. Ground Turkey, $5.
4 lbs Brown Sugar, $2.29. Because we're out.
4 lbs. 10x Sugar, $2.29. For our traditional T-day Puppy Chow.
2 Pkgs. Hillshire Farms Sliced Lunchmeat, $6. Used two .55/1 from the 10/24 RP.
Breakstone Sour Cream, .99. Used .55/1 from the 11/14 SS.
2 Bags Cheese Puffs, $1.78. Gluten-free!
3 Cans Red Gold Tomatoes (for Tastefully Simple Salsa), $3.27. Used $1/3 from the 9/26 SS.
1 stalk celery, .99. For the soup.
Total was $48.48 and I received $1 OYNO coupon for buying the Crescents. But wait, there's more! DH bought me the Christmas Carol DVD I asked for (no surprise, but I'm happy about it!) so I'll send in for the $10 rebate wyb a Butterball Turkey. Net cost: $37.48 with a savings of $39.28.
That's actually not too bad, considering I bought so many things we needed for our Turkey dinner. I paid with the gift cards I bought Saturday! The stores were packed and I'm happy to be done with the shopping!
But here's the deal on the Butterball....you can combine the $4 wyb Butterball and four crescents with the .40/2 crescents and the current catalina to get a decent price on a name-brand turkey. And IF you happen to be buying either the Christmas Carol or The Search for Santa Paws Blu-Ray or DVD, you can send in for a $10 rebate. My DH bought the DVD at Target ($24.99) with the $10 mfg coupon here and the $5 Target coupon (in the Sunday ad). So our total cost for the turkey, 4 crescents, and the DVD was just $11.68 (after rebate). The rebate form for the Turkey is here.
